If you are considering having your son circumcised, we would like to provide you with related insurance and cost information to assist you in your decision. In addition, we welcome you to learn more about circumcision care.

Many commercial health insurance plans cover the cost of the circumcision procedure. However, we recommend you contact your insurance provider prior to delivery to verify your specific benefit coverage.

The North Carolina Medicaid program does not cover circumcisions for newborns as it is considered an elective procedure. If you have Medicaid and are considering having a circumcision performed, payments must be made in advance.

Women’s Hospital charges the following for a circumcision:

  • $269.00          Hospital charge
  • $269.00          Physician charge if the procedure is performed by a Women’s Hospital Faculty Practice physician. Private physicians charge their own professional fees, so consult with your physician regarding charges.

All charges are due in full prior to scheduling of your son’s circumcision. Cashiers are available:

Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in Admitting and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Maternity Admissions Unit (MAU).

If you have any questions, please contact our Women’s Hospital Cashier at (336) 832-6563 or the Maternity Admissions Registration at (336) 832-6536.
