Understanding Your Newborn

This online eClass offers the freedom to learn how to care for your baby in the comfort of home. The flexibility of this option allows the review of sections at your own pace, at the times convenient to you and your support people. It provides comprehensive, evidence-based education about baby care in the first six weeks and beyond. The class features real-life stories from first-time parents and delivers the latest guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and other trusted organizations, along with the importance of baby cues, early brain growth, and bonding. Covered topics: Newborn traits and behaviors, Crying and comforting, Breastfeeding basics, Diapering, Bathing, nail care, and dressing, Newborn health and safety, and Additional resources: When to Call Your Baby’s Healthcare Provider, Car Seat Installation, Baby’s Daily Breastfeeding Log, How to Perform Infant CPR, Infant Choking First Aid, Baby Supplies Checklist.

 This class is available in English or Spanish. Once you register online for the class, you will receive an email within a few days with instructions to begin the class when the time is right for you. The content will be available to you for 9 months.
