Choosing Your Child's Health Care Provider

The health care provider you select for your newborn will play an important role in their development. This provider may be a pediatrician, a family doctor, physician assistant or pediatric nurse practitioner. Each one is qualified to provide the care and support your child will need as they grow.

To find the right provider for you, ask for recommendations from your obstetrician or from other parents. Then take the time to contact prospective health care providers to find the best fit for your family.  Be sure to ask the provider if they accept the insurance your baby will have to assure coverage.

Once you have found your child's provider, alert them to your expected delivery date so they can be available for your newborn’s pediatric care while you are at the hospital. If your provider does not provide in-hospital care at Women’s Hospital, our pediatric faculty doctors will care for your newborn while in the hospital.
