Cord Blood Donations

The Carolinas Cord Blood Bank (CCBB) is a non-for-profit, public cord blood bank that collects, stores and distributes umbilical cord blood for use in unrelated donor blood stem cell transplantation. Women delivering a healthy baby after an uncomplicated term delivery may choose to participate.

If you are interested in learning more about being a cord blood donor, call 336-832-4836 or email to speak with a CCBB staff member.

Directed Donor Program

If you already have a child with a particular disease, you may qualify for the Directed Donor Program. In this case, your baby’s cord blood is stored specifically for use by a sibling of your newborn with any of the following diseases: Leukemia, Lymphoma, MDA, Neuroblastoma, Sickle Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome, Congenital Immunodeficiency, or Type 1 Diabetes.

For more information, please contact Robin Berger, CCBB Collection Site Coordinator, at 919-681-2464.
